Informationen zum Host
Originally erected at the end of the 19th century as a farmhouse, House Hannes Schneider pays tribute to the man whose name now honors the house. According to local historians, this is where Hannes Schneider spent his early childhood years - - acquiring his first pair of skis -- and took to the sport before becoming a ski guide at the Hotel Post in St. Anton in 1907, working on what became known as the Arlberg technique. In 1939, he brought his world-renowned skills to North Conway, New Hampshire, USA and Mt. Cranmore. Today, he is known as the “father of modern skiing,” and is often credited for pioneering the U.S. ski industry as well as introducing millions to the sport around the globe. A historic symbol, Hannes Schneider’s former childhood home has been transformed into a rustic-luxe alpine townhouse. Using natural and raw materials from the region and sustainable construction methods, local craftsmen have created an elegant and modern-day four-story townhouse to offer guests an unparalleled opportunity to holiday in a historic mountain village.
Located in the heart of Stuben (a pedestrian-only village), the chalet is just steps from the new Flexenbahn cable car linking the Arlberg villages of St. Anton and St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs, Lech and Oberlech - - as well as Schröcken and Warth. It’s a place where guests can explore nature -- whether on skis in the winter or by foot in summer.
