Our family home is a characterful building with a long history, with the original part of the house dating back to 1429! Yet you will find our all accommodation is modern and comfortable. We bought the house in 2007 and started to renovate in the spring of 2008. We have created 2 large, self contained apartments on the 1st floor (up 1 flight of stairs) of the house. We started to welcome guests in August of 2008. In 2016 we introduced a modern double bedroom suite on the ground floor of the house. The room and its private bathroom is on one level from the main door of the house. The attached private sitting room is down 1 step from the bedroom and has complimentary coffee making facilities. The ÖPV (Austrian Private Landlords Association) has awarded us 4 'Edelweiss' (based on criteria such as comfort, furnishings etc). This award gives you peace of mind when trying to chose the right place to stay. This year we have completed a carport on the car park, offering most guests covered parking for their stay. Our attention to detail ensures that our guests have everything they need for a memorable stay, which is why we consistently receive excellent reviews from satisfied guests.

We are Russ and Elaine from the United Kingdom. We bought our house and moved from UK in October 2007. We began to renovate the property in spring 2008 and welcomed our first guests in August the same year. We had an addition to the staff in February 2016 when we adopted our dog Sasha from a dog shelter in Slovakia. She is a much loved addition to our family, and we are lucky to have her with us, she has very quickly captured our hearts! We enjoy making our guests feel at home and have a wealth of knowledge about the area, gained over the last 12 years, which we gladly share with our guests. Our hobbies include skiing (downhill and cross country), snowshoe walking, cycling, motorcycling, walking (especially with our dog), hiking and much more. We have a large circle of friends and enjoy the social side of our life here. This has given us a good first-hand experience of many of the local restaurants and cafes and we will be glad to give you the benefit of this knowledge!

We are situated 1.5 km from the center of Bad Ischl in a rural area known as Rettenbach. From here you have great views toward our local mountain (Katrin) and beyond! The house is surrounded by beauty in a rural setting, yet it is only a short walk to the center of Bad Ischl (1.5 km) where you will find a wide selection of shops, good restaurants and cafes. There are many local walks within easy reach of the house, and some that start right outside the door! At the local farm during the spring and summer months there is a 'Jause' (snack) station 'Buschenschank von Greu' where the farmers' wife serves home made snacks, soups and cakes as wells as hot and cold drinks. This is open Wednesday - Saturday between 14:00 - 20:00 and the farm is just a few minutes walk from the door, perfect for a warm afternoon or evening stroll! Within easy reach of Bad Ischl there are numerous lakes, mountains and beautiful villages to explore. The many winter and summer activities available in the area make this a destination for any season. Whether you want an active holiday, or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the peace and quite, we are sure you will find everything you need here.
