Long term rentals available, please message us for details. Chalet Maria sits at 1,000m between two ski runs. Take you pick in the morning or the evening for the run to the lifts or the run home. If you come in the summer or the winter then, like us you will probably spend many hours just looking at the view of the mountains. Its a very peaceful place, the valley stream can be heard from spring through to the first snows.

This is a neighbourhood of family owned chalets, most of the people you will meet are owners or friends of the owners, its a world away from the corporate bling of France and Switzerland. Turn off the main road, under the ski lifts and you know you are almost there, the roads are daily by the farmers in the winter, but do always pack chains in the winter months as we are in a snow pocket and get a lot more snow then the surrounding areas! Take the last lift of the day and then have a meal at the mountain huts, before skiing down behind the piste bashers...just remember to take a head torch !

We discovered the Hochkonig region very much by accident, it's relatively unknown to the UK market but with constant lift and facility upgrades over the past few years, coupled with un-crowded pistes and some eye popping mountain huts, its an amazing place in the winter or the summer. If you enjoy peace & quiet, getting away from it all then the chalet is perfect as its situated between 2 ski runs. However its only a short drive to Hinterthal or Maria alm for nightlife and restaurants.
